Nadezhda A. Shostak - Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, MD, Professor, Head of Academician A.I. Nesterov Department of Intermediate Level Therapy of the State Budget Educational Institution for Higher Vocational Education N.I. Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University.
N.A.Shostak graduated from the N.I. Pirogov 2nd Moscow State Medical University awarded with Lenin order and then studied in the clinical internship and post-graduate department at the Department of Intermediate Level Therapy of the 2nd Moscow State Medical University awarded with Lenin order in specializations of therapy and rheumatology. All of her further working career has been associated with the 2nd Moscow State Medical University awarded with Lenin order (now – N.I. Pirogov Russian Research Medical University). In 2009, in accordance with the order of Rector of the N.I. Pirogov Russian Research Medical University, the Research and Training Center "Clinical and Pathogenic Mechanisms of Non-Ischemic Cardiology and Rheumatic Diseases" was created at the Department of Intermediate Level Therapy under the management of Professor N.A.Shostak.
N.A. Shostak is a co-chairman of Research Council No.1 (internal diseases) of the N.I. Pirogov Russian Research Medical University, member of the Presidium of Association of Rheumatologists of Russia and Expert Council for Rheumatology of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, member of the Russian Cardiologic Society and European Society of Cardiology, Chief Editor of the research and practical peer-reviewed "The Clinician" journal included into the listing of State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles, member of editorial boards of journals called "Research and Practical Rheumatology", "Rational Pharmacotherapy in Cardiology", "Modern Rheumatology", and "General Medicine".
She has held scientific research in rheumatology and therapy since 1970. In 1995, N.A.Shostak defended the doctor's thesis called "New Possibilities of Diagnostics and Primary Prevention of Rheumatic Fever". She has been the academic adviser for 38 theses of candidates of sciences and 5 doctor's theses regarding various aspects of internal medicine. The scientific interests are associated with various issues of internal diseases - heart damage as a result of ischemic and non-ischemic genesis, chronic arthritis, osteoarthrosis, osteoporosis, dorsopathies, and calcified rheumatic heart disease, pulmonary hypertension, thrombophilia, issues of therapy of rheumatic diseases, including cardiovascular pathologies with the help of high technology (innovation) treatment methods.
N.A. Shostak continuously takes part in arrangement and work of Russian and international conferences, reads lectures, holds round table and symposia in various problems of internal medicine. She is the principal investigator in over 20 randomized multi-center international clinical studies in rheumatology, cardiology, pulmonology.
In 2009, the Association of Rheumatologists of Russia awarded Nadezhda Alexandrovna Shostak with the diploma "For Outstanding Service in the Field of Rheumatology and Creation of a SCIENTIFIC SCHOOL". In 2014, she was awarded a Diploma of the Honorable Member of the All-Russian Public Organization "Association of Rheumatologists of Russia" for long-term contribution to development of research and practical rheumatology, introduction of the latest achievements in the field of diagnostics and therapy of rheumatic diseases, as well as with the Diploma of the N.I. Pirogov Russian Research Medical University for the best results in the educational and methodological work in the field of clinical disciplines.
In 2013, N.A. Shostak won the Award of Moscow in the field of medicine.
She is the author of over 200 scientific works, including 5 works published in international journals and 12 monographs. N.A. Shostak has the Hirsch index of 5 in Scopus, and 10 in the Russian Science Citation Index.
