The importance of OSAS is due to its close relationship with cardiovascular diseases. OSAS increases a risk for sudden cardiac death and is an independent predictor of chronic heart failure in males. OSAS is shown to be associated with the preclinical forms of atherosclerosis and left ventricular dysfunction.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p>Синдром обструктивного апноэ сна (СОАС) наблюдается в популяции с частотой 5 – 15 %. Значимость СОАС обусловлена его тесной взаимосвязью с сердечно-сосудистыми заболеваниями. Наличие СОАС повышает риск возникновения внезапной сердечной смерти. СОАС является независимым предиктором развития хронической сердечной недостаточности у мужчин.
